Alton Road flyover to close at night for painting

Beginning Sunday, the Alton Road flyover bridge will be closed during the night as crews paint the railing.

The closure of the flyover at the MacArthur Causeway and Fifth Street in South Beach will be from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday.

Drivers traveling east on the MacArthur who are trying to head north on Alton Road will have to continue east on Fifth Street, turn north on Lenox Avenue, turn west on Eighth Street and then turn north on Alton Road.

Drivers traveling on Alton Road from south of Fifth Street will have to follow the same detour.
