A weekly civic breakfast in Miami Beach has changed venues because its home is being torn down for a new retail and restaurant development.

The Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club, a gathering of politically active residents who host guest speakers that include politicians and city officials each week, will start meeting this week at Manolo restaurant at 685 Washington Ave.

Mayoral candidate David Wieder will speak to the gathering at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The group’s moderator David Kelsey said he needed to quickly find a new spot when Abuela’s Cuban Kitchen at the corner of Meridian Avenue and Lincoln Lane North closed this week.

The building is being torn down for the construction of a new retail and restaurant space that will house Anthropologie and a rooftop cafe.

“We are sad to see Abuela’s move, but we are excited about the new development planned in its footprint,” said Terranova Executive Vice President Mindy McIlroy, in a statement. “Lincoln Road is in the midst of a tremendous evolution that is changing this historic shopping district into an even greater resource for the Miami Beach community.”
