Remember them? They were some of the grand hotels that helped put Miami and Miami Beach on the map. Now, they are just memories, replaced with luxury towers.
Even newer recent hotels are facing the wrecker’s ball: Brickell’s Mandarin Oriental and likely the Hyatt in downtown Miami. And others, like the Carillon, have been redeveloped into condos.
What were the forgotten hotels of Miami like in the old days?
Many had Mediterranean or MiMo designs. Grand lobbies. Showrooms with bands and theatrical productions. Others were whimsical, like the Castaways.

Americana, Bal Harbour
