Miami Beach police investigating after cat found with face gashed
A cat found with a severe wound on the side of its head has triggered a police investigation into a possible animal cruelty case.
Building management at Bay Garden Manor condominiums, 1250 West Ave., found the wounded feline and called police. The small brown cat suffered a deep gash on the left side of its face and couldn’t move.
The cat was taken to a nearby animal hospital, where it was euthanized.
Police say there are no witnesses and don’t know whether the cat had an owner.
"We take all reports of animal cruelty seriously,” police said in a statement. “If we are able to identify the subject involved we will ask to prosecute this to the fullest extent of the law."
