Spring break rules are starting in Miami Beach. What to know about parking and shutdowns

Changes are starting for spring break in Miami Beach, including closed parking garages in South Beach and $100 fees in other parts of the city.

It’s all part of the city’s efforts to limit spring break crowds.

Here’s what to know about the changes in 2025:

Parking

Feb. 27-March 2, March 6-9 and March 27-30: $30 flat parking rate at city garages and surface lots in South Beach. Entry to garages shut at 6 p.m., except for residents and employees.

March 13-16 and March 20-23: All parking garages and surface lots south of 23rd Street closed. A $100 flat rate at garages in Sunset Harbour and on 42nd Street. The shutdowns and rates won’t apply to city residents and employees.

Towing

March rates: Fee doubles to $516 for those who don’t live in Miami Beach.

Causeway traffic

License plate readers: Police will set up license plate readers on the Julia Tuttle and MacArthur causeways heading to Miami Beach

Checkpoints: A DUI checkpoint will be set up along Fifth Street, east of the MacArthur Causeway.

Changes on Ocean Drive

Vehicles: Cars can only enter Ocean Drive from the northern end and must exit at Fifth Street. Barricades will line the west side of the street.

Pedestrians: Sidewalk seating on Ocean Drive will be closed.

Stops: Security checkpoints set up at beach entrances on Ocean Drive.

Curfews

Night restrictions: Curfews have not been announced but could potentially be in effect as they have been in recent years. Last year, the city declared a midnight curfew for South Beach.
