Early voting began Monday morning for a crucial Miami Beach election in which voters will select a new mayor and three new city commissioners.

There are two full weeks of early voting ahead of Election Day on Nov. 7.

Until Sunday, Nov. 5, voters can cast their ballots at Miami Beach City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Dr., or the North Shore Branch Library, 7501 Collins Ave.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday, Oct. 23, to Friday, Oct. 27, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, and Sunday, Oct. 29.

The hours change the following week, with polls open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday, Oct. 30, to Friday, Nov. 3. They will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, and Sunday, Nov. 5.

Miami Beach voters have already begun casting mail ballots, which went out two weeks ago. Voters have until Oct. 26 to request a mail ballot. Mail ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Nov. 7.

Four of the city’s seven elected seats will change hands this election. The results will help determine the direction of the tourist hub as it grapples with how to handle spring break, alcohol sale hours, public safety, traffic and flooding.

All of the seats are at-large, representing the entire city.

There are four candidates to replace term-limited Mayor Dan Gelber: Michael Gongora, Mike Grieco, Steven Meiner and Bill Roedy.

If none of them receive more than 50% of votes, there will be a runoff between the top two finishers on Nov. 21, with early voting from Nov. 17 to Nov. 19.

There are also three City Commission seats up for grabs.

Andres Asion is facing Tanya Katzoff Bhatt for the seat being vacated by Meiner. Mitch Novick is taking on David Suarez for the seat held by term-limited Commissioner Ricky Arriola. And Joe Magazine is battling Marcella Novela in the race to replace Commissioner David Richardson, who is running for Miami-Dade County tax collector.
