A sewer break Friday near Dade Boulevard and Bay Road in Miami Beach prompted the second water advisory this week.

People were being told to avoid swimming and all recreational activities in Collins Canal and the waters adjacent to the Sunset Islands.

Earlier this week, a sewer break underwater forced a no contact with water advisory for the Venetian Islands and Maurice Gibb Park. The kayak launch at the park was closed.

That advisory, which was issued Tuesday, was still in effect Friday.

Dade Boulevard was shut down between West Avenue and Bay Road for repairs for Friday’s break.

“Please expect increased vehicular activity throughout the Venetian Islands, Sunset Harbour and West Avenue neighborhoods as Public Works repairs the line,” the city said in the advisory.

The advisories will be lifted when results from sampling show acceptable levels for two consecutive days.
