Miami Beach causeway reopens after emergency drawbridge repairs at eastern end

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE: The bridge was reopened at 4:15 p.m.

Emergency repairs to the east drawbridge have closed the JFK Causeway in both directions at that point, the city of Miami Beach announced Wednesday afternoon.

That’s the causeway that links North Bay Village and North Beach.

So, until repairs are finished, the Julia Tuttle Causeway to the south or the Broad Causeway to the north are the best ways in and out of Miami Beach. Exiting Interstate 95 at Northwest 79th Street and heading directly east is not an option.
