Miami Beach man accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in apartment stairwell

A South Florida man is behind bars after police say he raped a 16-year-old girl in Miami Beach.

Miguel Alamilla, 20, was arrested and charged with sexual battery on Tuesday.

The alleged assault occurred around midnight in the stairwell of Alamilla’s South Beach apartment at 800 Washington Ave., according to the arrest report.

Police say the 16-year-old, who arrived in Miami from California a week ago, had only recently met Alamilla.

The teen called 911 following Tuesday’s incident and led officers to the building. Just as the group entered the lobby, Alamilla exited the elevator.

“That’s him,” the teen immediately shrieked, according to the report.

On Wednesday, a judge ordered Alamilla to stay at least 500 feet away from the girl, court documents indicate.

Jail records show Alamilla is being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on $10,000 bond.

Alamilla has been on probation since late October after being convicted of cocaine possession with intent to sell, according to court documents.
