Two Miami Beach cops injured after trying to stop people from hanging outside of car

Spring Break tends to bring the party and a wild environment to Miami Beach. And when two cops tried to stop it on Friday, they got hurt.

At 4:18 p.m., Miami Beach officers pulled over a car on the 1000 block of Collins Avenue after they saw people riding on the outside of the car, police said.

Once the car was stopped, police said, someone inside became “combative” with the officers, which caused a large crowd of people to gather.

Several people were detained, but police did not say if arrests were made.

During this altercation, two Miami Beach officers were hurt. Their injuries were not life threatening. They were taken to a local hospital.

On Wednesday, Miami Beach officers had gotten into more altercations with spring breakers when cops tackled one person, punched two others and grabbed a young woman by the throat when she had already fallen onto Ocean Drive following a collision with an officer, according to video posted on social media. The NAACP condemned the police actions as “racist.”
