A taxi hit a pedestrian in South Beach. The man is hospitalized in critical condition

A man was hit by a taxi in Miami Beach Saturday morning and rushed to the hospital in critical condition, police said.

The accident happened at 10th Street and Alton Road around 4:45 a.m.

“The driver remained on the scene,” said Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez. “The preliminary investigation reveals the driver may not have been at fault,” he said.

The man is at Jackson Memorial’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Alton Road and 10th Street were closed during a preliminary investigation, but the area has since been reopened, Rodriguez said.

The crash investigation is still open.

South Beach is busy with Art Basel at the Convention Center and Miami Art Week’s associated events this weekend.
