Part of southbound Collins Avenue in Miami Beach was shut down as Monday morning rush hour begins after a car went into Indian Creek before dawn.
By 8:20 a.m., police were directing traffic through one open lane around 53rd Street and Collins Avenue.
Miami Beach Fire Rescue said that around 5:20 a.m., a woman trying to avoid being hit by another driver veered off the road. Police and fire-rescue workers got her out of the car. The driver of the second car stayed on the scene and helped rescue efforts.

The woman was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center. Her condition wasn’t known.
