Flooding on Collins Avenue snarling Miami Beach traffic
Drivers trying to get off Miami Beach or heading up toward Surfside, Bal Harbour and beach municipalities north of Miami Beach should avoid Collins Avenue until at least early afternoon. It’s down to one lane for a few blocks around 29th Street.
City workers say the connector between a water main and the fire hydrant in front of Triton Tower, 2899 Collins Ave., blew as a crew worked on the fire hydrant. The building still has water, but so does the street, which is one way northbound at that point.
