Man shoots dog after being bitten in Miami Beach, police say

A man shot a pitbull in Miami Beach Sunday afternoon after being attacked by the animal, police said.

The dog was taken to Knowles Animal Clinic after being found by police officers at 660 82nd Street. Its condition is unknown, according to Miami Beach Police Department spokesperson Ernesto Rodriguez.

The victim, Matt Ellis, told WSVN-Channel 7 that he was holding a pizza box when his girlfriend’s dog lunged onto his left arm. The dog, named Bentley, is a registered service dog.
