One of the women pulled out of Sunday’s choppy surf in Miami Beach remains in critical condition.
Brandi Mitchell, 27, was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center Sunday afternoon after she and Domonique Cook, 24, were found face-down and unconscious in the water in Mid-Beach.
Rescue workers were able to get a pulse from Mitchell, but Cook did not survive. Both came to Miami Beach on vacation from New York.
Sunday was a choppy day at the beaches. Miami Beach Ocean Rescue had a red flag up, which means strong surf and currents, according to Miami Beach spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez.
Dangerous conditions are affecting beaches Monday. South Florida is under a rip current advisory through the evening.
