Residents of the Venetian Islands are invited to an informational meeting Thursday evening about the upcoming closure of the westernmost stretch of the Venetian Causeway.

The meeting, which is expected to address concerns about traffic and safety issues, starts at 6 p.m. Thursday at Miami Beach Police headquarters, 1100 Washington Ave.

The bridge has fallen into disrepair over the years and has several metal plates patching worn-out concrete. It is set to be closed soon for a nine-month, $10-million reconstruction project.

Representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard and Miami Beach police will be present.
