Pedestrian critically injured after being hit by car in South Beach
A pedestrian was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a car in South Beach, according to Miami Beach police.
The accident happened at about 4 p.m. on Washington Avenue between Sixth and Eighth streets.

Driver remained on scene. Patient being transported to JMH.
A several-block stretch was shut down for several hours as police investigated. Washington Avenue reopened at about 7 p.m., police confirmed.
The driver remained on the scene, police said. Ernesto Rodriguez, a police spokesman, said “no criminal charges are imminent.”
Police didn’t identify the driver or the victim.
