A boy showed up on a doorstep. Police want help finding his parents.

A 14-year-old who didn’t know where to find his mother or father showed up at the home of a Miami Gardens woman. Miami Beach police want the public’s help in finding a parent or guardian.

When Alexandra Gonzalez first encountered the boy at the front door of her apartment in the Douglas Pointe complex Tuesday afternoon, he said he knew his mother’s name, Denise Deshawn, but not where she lived. The phone number he had for Kevin Deshawn, who he said was his father, didn’t connect Gonzalez with a parent or guardian either.

Gonzalez brought the young man to work with her in Miami Beach and called police. The teenager, who is about 5-feet 10 inches, was taken into custody by the Department of Children and Families.

Miami Beach police ask anyone with information on who he is or where his parents might be are asked to call 305-673-7901.
