Police catch 3 armed carjackers on the Venetian Causeway
Miami Beach police captured three armed carjackers Tuesday night who robbed a woman approaching a Miami Beach bank and took off in her car.
The three men were apprehended after 8 p.m. on the Venetian Causeway, police said on Twitter. Police said they recovered a firearm.
Police flooded the causeway around rush hour searching for the three men. At 5:45 p.m., police located the car on the causeway and closed the road. (It has since reopened.)
The occupants had bailed out and fled onto Di Lido Island. Police had warned drivers to avoid the area.
Update: Officers located and arrested 3 subjects from the armed carjacking earlier today. A firearm was also recovered.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the suspects, pictured in a Tweet released by the police, stole the car in the 300 block of 71st Street in Miami Beach. A woman who was on her way to work at a bank in North Beach was robbed of her watch, cellphone and silver Volkswagen Jetta as she approached the building, according to police. Police did not identify the bank, the victim or the suspects. The woman was not injured, police said.
