Dan Gelber elected Miami Beach mayor
In Miami Beach, former state lawmaker Dan Gelber will be the new mayor after a lopsided victory in Tuesday’s election.
With 21 of 24 precincts reporting, Gelber had 82 percent of the vote in a four-way race.
Gelber, 57, is returning to elected office for the first time in seven years. He’ll be sworn Monday to the office his father, Seymour Gelber, once held.
Gelber won the office handily after his chief competitor, former commissioner Michael Grieco, was forced to withdraw from the race and eventually resign from office amid a campaign finance scandal.
