Medical fraud task force arrests three at Flagami clinic
Miami Police Department’s Staged Accident Detail — which is part of a federal task force that works to combat medical fraud — arrested a doctor, therapist and front desk clerk after serving a search warrant at a Flagami medical clinic.
Arrested: Dr. Angel Amado Lazo, 79; Clara R. Segura, 43, who is a therapist; and Arlene Hernandez Garcia, 32, a front desk receptionist. All three face charges including false or fraudulent insurance claims and third-degree grand theft and organized scheme to defraud, according to police.

Police said that Monday’s operation at Brothers Medical Center, 3990 West Flagler St., Suite 201, was the culmination of an investigation that began in Sept. 2015.
Rene Pimental, a spokesman for Miami police, said an undercover officer posed as an accident victim, which helped detectives gather evidence.
“If you are stealing from insurance companies, everyone is going to have to pay for that theft,” he said.
