The Burger King at 1309 NW 20th St. near Jackson Hospital was the site of a safe theft in Monday's wee hours in what could be the second in a pattern of Burger King hits.

The Burger King at 1309 NW 20th St. doesn’t have a 24-hour drive-thru. Annoying as that might be for doctors, nurses and unit coordinators ending a late shift at nearby Jackson Memorial Hospital, a pair of burglars took advantage of this to turn the Burger King drive-thru into a drive-thru bank.

According to Miami police Lt. Freddi Cruz and surveillance camera footage, the thieves broke out the windows of the drive-thru, wriggled inside and proceeded to make off with a safe after about 20 minutes.

Cruz said the safe contained several thousand dollars. The theft occurred around 3 a.m. Monday.

Other than the robbers being a pair, little else is known about them. Cruz said a Burger King down on Coral Way was hit in a similar manner, so this might be the same pair.

Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 305-471-8477 (TIPS), or the Miami police burglary unit is 305-603-6030.
