Cockatoos swiped from porch; video surveillance captures caper
A pair of cockatoos — and their cage — were swiped from the front porch of a Little Havana home earlier this week and police are hoping that surveillance video will help detectives nab the bird thief.
Police say the cockatoo caper happened sometime between 4:50 and 5 a.m. Sunday at 1835 SW Ninth St.
A man in an orange hat can be seen walking up to the porch, retreating, coming back, stopping and then walking away with a white cage.
Detectives say they are looking for a thin man between the ages of 40 and 50, last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, dark blue sweatshirt thrown over shoulders and khaki shorts.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami Police Department’s Burglary Unit at 305-603-6370 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
