Hit-and-run crash leaves a man dead in Little Havana
Miami police on Sunday were looking for the driver of a 2006 green Chrysler 300 sedan who slammed into a man crossing a Little Havana street late Saturday and then took off.
The pedestrian, identified as Pedro David Gonzalez, 33, was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition. He died Sunday from his injures.
According to police, Gonzalez was attempting to cross Northwest 12th Avenue from east to west at Fourth Street near Marlins Park at 10 p.m. Saturday, when the southbound Pathfinder struck him.
Police say the driver of the car, which is believed to have front-end damage, got out of his vehicle, looked at Gonzalez and then got back inside and continued driving south.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Miami Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit at 305-603-6525 or Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
