A 23-year-old woman has died after being struck during a car crash involving a Miami Police officer on Sunday in the Flagami area.

The crash happened around 7:20 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Northwest 47th Avenue and Seventh Street.

A City of Miami police cruiser was heading east on Northwest Seventh Street when a westbound driver in a Toyota attempted a left turn, according to Miami Police Officer Kiara Delva. Video from Miami Herald news partner CBSMiami showed a dark Toyota with left front end damage and a Miami police cruiser damaged on the driver’s side.

Police say the circumstances that led to the crash are still under investigation.

Two women walking nearby were hit, either by the vehicles or debris from the crash. Miami Fire Rescue took the officer and both women to Jackson Memorial Hospital. One of the pedestrians, identified as Michelle Veronica Salmeron Membreno on Monday, later died from her injuries.

The second pedestrian and the officer—neither of whom was identified—were hospitalized in stable condition. The driver of the Toyota was not injured.
