Garbage truck hits and kills bicyclist in Little Havana, shutting streets for hours
A man riding a bicycle was killed after he was hit by a garbage truck, according to Miami police.
The incident happened around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday on West Flagler Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues, said Officer Michael Vega, a Miami police spokesman.
Those streets in Little Havana, west of downtown Miami, closed until around 10:30 a.m. as traffic homicide officers investigated, Vega said.
The bicyclist hit by the private-company truck died on the street.
