2 people killed in a crash that had part of Flagler Street shut down, Miami police say

An overnight single-car crash that killed two people and put two others in critical condition had part of West Flagler Street closed Sunday morning, Miami police say.

After the 3:10 a.m. crash, Miami police said Flagler was closed in both directions from West 47th Court to West 48th Avenue. The westbound lanes reopened at 9:30 a.m. The eastbound lanes reopened around 11:15 a.m.

Miami Officer Kenia Fellat said traffic homicide detectives determined the driver of a westbound Kia Forte lost control and hit a light pole. Two people were ejected from the car, while the Kia continued on to the Valero gas station.

Miami Fire Rescue arrived, declared the two people ejected dead and took the remaining three passengers to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
