1 woman died, 1 critically hurt in hit-and-run with Range Rover bunch, Miami cops say
A hit-and-run Monday in Little Havana left one woman dead, another in critical condition and police looking for three men who abandoned a Range Rover.
The Range Rover — airbags deployed, doors open, hood up — sat in the side yard of an apartment building on the southeast corner of Northwest 11th Avenue and Third Street. Down the avenue sat a maroon Nissan, passenger door open and the rear smashed.
Miami police officer Kiara Delva said a preliminary investigation and witness statements say the Range Rover was heading south on Northwest 11th Avenue when it blew the stop sign and smashed into the maroon economy car, which was heading east on Northwest Third Street. That sent the car careening down the block into five parked cars before it stopped against a curb on the left side of the street.
The three young men who absconded from the crash were in their late teens to early 20s, Delva said. Miami Fire Rescue took the women up Northwest 12th Avenue to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Late Monday, police said the driver of the Nissan, 63-year-old Mayra Sanchez, died.
