Miami Dade College’s Koubek Center has announced an open call to apply for En Residencia in Little Havana, a Knight Arts challenge-winning artist-in-residency program rooted in social practice designed to support Latino artists by providing space to develop ideas.
Work produced must be within the context of the Koubek Center and its surrounding Little Havana neighborhood. Four artists will each receive a $5,000 commission for a new work created through En Residencia.
Each artist will spend three months researching and planning their work in the community. The artists will form relationships through fieldwork and activities such as volunteering and participating in community events, and another three months implementing and presenting their projects in several formats, which could include public art installations, performances, screenings and readings.
Applications are available on the Koubek Center website, www.koubekcenter.org, and must be completed in full and submitted by 11 p.m., June 30.
