Traffic alert: Streets closed for Calle Ocho street festival
One of the country’s biggest block parties is ready to take over the streets of Little Havana for the 38th year.
The Calle Ocho street festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. And to drivers, that means plenty of closed streets in the area.
Miami police officers will be stationed at the barricades to help detoured drivers get around.
Eastbound lanes on Southwest Eighth Street from 27th to Seventh avenues will be closed until 5 a.m. Monday.
Traffic traveling east on Southwest Eighth Street will be detoured at 27th Avenue. Traffic going west on Southwest Seventh Street will be detoured northbound at Eighth.
Miami-Dade Transit buses traveling along Southwest Eighth Street will be detoured.
Area residents can get home on the north side of Southwest Seventh Street or the south side of Southwest Ninth Street.
