Robber stole the tips from this hot Kendall BBQ spot. Owner offers $10k reward
A beloved Kendall barbecue restaurant was the target of an overnight robbery on Tuesday. Now, the owner is offering a $10,000 reward for information that could lead to an arrest.
Jeff Budnechky, the owner of Apocalypse BBQ, at 9980 SW 104th St., said in a video posted to the business’s Instagram that a robber got in around 2:30 a.m. and stole two weeks’ worth of tips from his employees.
“Anybody that gives me any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual involved, I got a $10,000 check with your name on it,” said Budnechky on social media. “I want this person found and I want this person arrested and brought to justice. This s*** is mad wack.”
Miami-Dade County Police said officers arrived at the restaurant at around 7 p.m. and said the burglar stole an undisclosed amount from the safe and register.
The MDPD’s Kendall District’s General Investigations Unit continues to investigate.
Surveillance footage Budnechky uploaded to Instagram shows the robber shuffling behind the restaurant’s bar.
Budnechky is a Miami-Dade native who grew up in Coral Gables and started Apocalypse BBQ in 2020 at home with the help of his wife, Laura.
He stated on social media that he would make sure none of his employees lost any money because of the robbery and he would personally pay their stolen tips.
“We’re here to make incredible barbecue, and that’s exactly what we’re going to keep doing,” he said in a video posted to their Instagram. “You want to support us? Come get some delicious ribs....f*** this, robber, let’s just keep this party going, baby.”
