Reports of an armed person making threats to a Kendall plastic surgery center prompted at least one school in the area to lock down late Tuesday morning. After rushing to the area and investigating, police said the reports were unfounded.

Miami-Dade police officers went to Southwest 107th Avenue and 88th Street, West Kendall Drive, after getting a call at 11:12 a.m. about a man with a gun making threats, said Detective Chris Thomas, a spokesman for the department.

However, after conducting a thorough search of the building, officers deemed the threat “unfounded,” said Detective Angel Rodriguez, a Miami-Dade County police spokesman.

“Upon arrival, officers conducted a sweep of the building which yielded negative results,” Rodriguez said in a statement.
