The first day of school ended with a half dozen teenagers in the hospital in Southwest Miami-Dade after a white Nissan Sentra collided with a private school van.
Of the 13 passengers, 11 were teenagers, but none were seriously injured, said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokesman Felipe Lay.
“Everybody that was in the van suffered minor injuries,” he said. “But nobody was critical.”
Six of the students were transported to Jackson South Hospital, said Miami-Dade police spokesman Argemis Colome.
The white Ford van rolled over from the force of the crash, which happened near Southwest 182nd Street and 105th Avenue, an area neighbors say needs more stop signs.
Police have not identified the name of the private school involved in the crash.
