Armando Christian Perez shares Cuban lineage, Miami roots and surname with Javier Perez, the South Dade High School principal critically injured when an SUV crushed him at his son’s little league baseball game on April 26. So, Armando Christian posted a bilingual message of encouragement for Javier on Facebook.

Of course, as Miami Coral Park High graduate Armando Christian Perez is world famously known as Miami rapper Pitbull, the message tends to carry more oomph.

Pitbull’s message went on the page for the Javi Perez First Annual 5K Run/Walk. The June 5 event at Amelia Earhart Park will raise money for Perez’s medical bills, his wife and two children. The gofundme page set up for Perez’s medical bills has raised $131,823 in contributions. Perez, who had part of each leg amputated in the days following the accident, reportedly is now breathing on his own.

The SUV’s driver, Marilyn Aguilera, convicted on one traffic violation in Miami-Dade County (in 2010, knowingly driving without a license), has not been arrested or charged in the accident.
