One teen killed, four people injured in separate shootings in South Dade

Multiple people were shot over the weekend in South Florida, resulting in at least one death.

Sunday night, two 16-year-olds were rushed to the hospital after they were shot in the neighborhood by Mondello Park, off Southwest 152nd Avenue and 284th Street in Homestead, according to Miami Herald news partner CBS 4.

On Saturday night, one teen was killed and two people were injured following a shooting in Florida City.

Miami-Dade Police told WSVN news that the shooting happened close to midnight near Northwest 12th Street and Eighth Place.

South Dade Senior High student Norieia Talabert was killed, and Dequante Allen and Deanna Clayton were sent to Kendall Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds, according to WSVN. They have since been released.

Alberto Carvalho, Miami-Dade public schools superintendent, expressed his grief on Twitter.

“We cannot allow callous and cowardly acts of gun violence to continue robbing us of our children,” he wrote. “Something must be done. #EnoughIsEnough”
