A late-night shooting in a Homestead shopping plaza injured two people who were rushed to a hospital, police say.

Samantha Renee Morales, 34, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, two weapons charges and a charge of using a firearm while impaired by alcohol, Homestead police said.

Around 9:30 p.m., officers rushed to the Homestead Pavilion shopping plaza, 2400 NE 10th Court, after 911 callers reported a shooting.

Authorities found two people with gunshot wounds, and they were taken by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to Jackson South Hospital, where they are in stable condition. They have not been identified.

Morales was still at the scene of the crime when officers arrived, and after an initial investigation, she was arrested, police said.

Details on what led up to the shooting were not released.

Authorities further said she gave a “self-serving statement” before she was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she remains Saturday.
