What caused truck fire near Redland trailer homes? Neighbors have a theory
Firefighters and deputies rushed to a vehicle fire that possibly spread to nearby trailer homes in Redland on Thursday afternoon, officials say. Neighbors tell the Miami Herald it might have been arson started from a lovers’ quarrel.
Around 3:10 p.m., about a dozen Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units were sent to a 911 call about a vehicle fire in the area of Southwest 152nd Street and 202nd Avenue, fire rescue said.
The blaze appears to have started from a pickup truck on a plot of land that has several cars and trailer homes. The fire has since been put out.
Fire Rescue did not immediately respond with information about the incident or any possible injuries.
A neighbor, who did not wish to be named but lives on the property next door, told the Herald the fire was started by a man who is squatting on the land. He lit the truck on fire after an argument with a woman he had been seeing romantically and who also stays on the property.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office did not immediately say if it is investigating the fire as arson or if it is looking for any suspects.
This is a developing story.
