Skip the DMV line: Mobile licensing office coming to Homestead for one day

You may not have to wait in a grueling DMV line if you live in South Miami-Dade, as the City of Homestead announced Monday it is bringing back a mobile licensing office for one day only.

On Jan. 22, the Florida Licensing on Wheels mobile office will be up and running in the William F. Dickinson Community Center, 1601 N. Krome Ave, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the city said.

“The mobile DMV visit offers residents a hassle-free way to handle their licensing needs locally,” the announcement read. “This convenient event offers residents a hassle-free way to handle their DMV needs, without the long lines or extended wait times typically associated with DMV offices.”

Residents will be able to handle a host of DMV business, except driving tests. Services available are:

  • First-time licenses: $48.00
  • Converting out-of-state license: $48.00
  • License renewals: $48.00 (Class E; fees vary for CDL)
  • Replacements for lost or stolen licenses: $25.00
  • Address or name changes: $25.00
  • ID cards: $25.00
  • No Fee Poverty Letter: Free
  • Reinstatements: Fees vary
  • Emergency Contact Information Registration: Free
  • Vehicle registration renewals: Fees vary
  • Disabled Parking Placard Issuance and Renewals: Permanent – Free, Temporary – $15.00

In order to use the mobile DMV residents must bring proof of identification, proof of social security number and two different proofs of address.
