One dead, one hospitalized after Cutler Bay home catches fire
One person has died after a fire broke out in a Cutler Bay home early Friday morning, officials say.
Around 5:50 a.m. Miami-Dade firefighters arrived at a home on the 9700 block of Montego Bay Drive and found heavy smoke coming from all sides of the house. Crews battled the flames and rescued one person who was inside. Another self-evacuated, fire rescue says.
Both were taken to a local hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Deputies did not reveal the condition of the survivor.
The fire has since been extinguished and the cause remains under investigation.
