A call about a person yelling led deputies to a teenage boy who was shot and wounded early Friday morning, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said.

The shooting happened around 3:45 a.m. in the 28000 block of Southwest 140th Place, according to Detective Joseph Peguero, a sheriff’s office spokesperson. Deputies arrived to the sound of screaming and found the 16-year-old Elijah Quintero on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Miami-Dade paramedics took the teen to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

No arrests have been made, but detectives are questioning several people in connection with the shooting, Peguero said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information, or cellphone or doorbell camera footage from the area, to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 (TIPS).
