Car fire in South Miami-Dade leads to discovery of body, deputies say

After firefighters extinguished a burning car in South Miami-Dade, they discovered a body inside, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies initially responded to the car fire around 7:20 p.m. Monday near Southwest 136th Avenue and 288th Street. They attempted to put out the flames but were unsuccessful. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived and extinguished the fire.

“An unknown gender occupant was found inside the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on scene.,” Detective Joseph R. Peguero Rivera said in an email.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Homicide Bureau is leading the investigation. No additional details have been released.
