A two-vehicle crash Thursday evening in South Miami-Dade County hospitalized eight people, including five children.

Around 6:50 p.m., Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed to the traffic crash near Southwest 286th Street and Southwest 142 Avenue, officials said. Three people were trapped inside a car when firefighters arrived and eventually rescued.

Five pediatric and three adult patients were taken to different hospitals. The five children were taken as trauma alerts — four to a trauma center in the western part of the county and one to a southern trauma center.

The three adults were taken to local hospitals.

Specifics on what hospitals, ages, names or the cause of the crash have not been released.

This is a developing story.
