Two boaters are rescued by helicopter after vessel overturns near Homestead
Two boaters were rescued off the coast of Homestead after their vessel overturned early Friday morning, authorities said.
Around 3:40 a.m., Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to an emergency call about a boat that had people onboard and had overturned about three miles east of Homestead’s Bayfront Park, 9698 SW 328th St., MDFR said.
An air-rescue helicopter crew began searching for the stranded boaters and soon found them next to their small, overturned boat.
Using a hoist basket, an air-rescue crew member was lowered into the water to secure the boaters and they were lifted into the chopper, fire rescue said.
The boaters were taken back to the Herbert Hoover Marina at the park and did not suffer any injuries.
