Homestead woman wins $1 million in new Florida Lottery game

A 70-year-old Homestead woman is the first $1 million top prize winner in the new 50X Scratch-Off game, the Florida Lottery announced on Friday.

Beatriz Travieso bought her winning ticket from the Publix at 2950 NE Eighth Street in Homestead.

Publix scores a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

According to the lottery’s headquarters in Tallahassee, Travieso opted to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $805,000.

The $5 game, 50X, features 12 top prizes of $1 million and gives players the opportunity to multiply the prize shown by up to 50 times. The game’s overall odds of winning are one-in-4.19.
