Miami-Dade police say they are investigating the death of a baby boy at a Southwest Miami-Dade home Thursday morning. Neighbors told Miami Herald news partner CBS4 that the baby had been badly burned.
“When the paramedics zipped down the baby’s onesie, the baby was burned from his neck to his knees, just completely burned,” Molita Cunningham, a neighbor, told the station.
A 911 call came in just after 11 a.m. Thursday, reporting that a 1-year-old boy was in cardiac respiratory arrest inside a home in the 12000 block of Southwest 217th Street, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
The baby was pronounced dead inside his home.

The incident is being treated as a “death investigation,” said Robin Pinkard, a spokeswoman for Miami-Dade police.
“Investigators are interviewing the baby’s mother to gather all pertinent information,” police said in a news release.
Cunningham’s brother Randy Joseph administered CPR to the baby, CBS 4 reported.
Joseph told CBS4 that the child’s mother said, “She telling me ‘please save my baby, I don’t want to go back to jail.’”
No other information was immediately available.
