Two people were hurt in building collapse and fire in Homestead early Friday morning.
It happened at the La Fondita restaurant at 219 SW Sixth Ave. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the fire at 6:21 a.m.
Fire rescue spokeswoman Michelle Fayed said the owner of the restaurant and another relative arrived at the restaurant Friday morning to get the business ready for opening when they smelled gas. When they turned on the lights, there was an explosion, which started a fire.
The owner’s daughter said her father Alfredo Derrano and her sister-in-law, Odelia Mondragon, were injured.
