Three South Miami-Dade crashes -- two trauma alerts, an amputation -- in 18 minutes

A trio of terrible accidents -- two involving trauma alerts, one other with an amputation -- within 18 minutes of each other plagued South Miami-Dade Sunday afternoon.

The times come from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s call list.

▪ At 3:01 p.m., a car struck a pedestrian at Southwest 288th Street and U.S. 1. in Homestead Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Felipe Lay said the pedestiran was flown as a trauma alert to Jackson South Trauma Center.

▪ At 3:03 p.m., single motorcycle accident at Southwest 360th Street and 192nd Avenue in Homestead cost the rider a foot.

▪ At 3:19 p.m., a crash involving a red Nissan and a red Isuzu at Northwest Sixth Street and Krome Avenue in Florida City produced two trauma alert patients and one woman entrapped in her car. Which car she was trapped in wasn’t clear.
