10-year-old says babysitter raped her over 10 times in Hialeah motel: cops
A 10-year-old girl placed in foster care because her mother allegedly left her and her siblings alone in a motel room confided in adults that she had been raped over a dozen times months prior by a man her mother trusted to babysit, authorities say.
Enrique Rodriguez Dominguez, 48, is facing charges of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child and sexual battery on a minor, his arrest report read.
On January 24, the little girl’s mother, Karla Subiza, was arrested by Hialeah police when her children were found alone in a motel by their grandparents. All of Subiza’s kids were placed in a foster home, police said.
Months later, on March 9, the Department of Children and Families were told the 10-year-old had alleged that when she was living with Subiza a man named “Ricky,” later discovered to be Dominguez, would take off her clothes and rape her when her mother was at work.
Detectives learned Subiza met Dominguez around July 2025 at a cafeteria where she worked, and he was a regular. When she learned he was homeless, she let him live with her and her five children in a trailer-park home, Hialeah police said. He had a room, and she had her own, which all her children slept with her in.
She was evicted a month later, but rented one large room at the Casanovas Boutique Motel, 1775 West Okeechobee Road, where she still allowed Dominguez to live. She would sleep on one bed with her kids, and he alone on another. There were times, she told detectives, she didn’t have a babysitter and he would watch her kids when she went to work.
About 10 to 20 times that he was left alone with the 10-year-old, who was 9 at the time, police said the little girl told them that he would rape her in various ways.
Subiza kicked Dominguez out of the motel room after an argument, and they never spoke again — what it was over is unclear.
When she learned about the allegations of sexual abuse this year, she tried to find him but discovered he was in jail.
Detectives confirmed that he had been incarcerated at the Metro West Detention Center on a battery charge. He’s still behind bars there as of Thursday and was given new charges.
