Hialeah police have arrested a homeless man in connection to the murders of his ex-girlfriend and another woman.

Adrian Leyva, 43, was arrested in Miami Beach late Friday night, a day after police identified him as the main suspect in the case. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Leyva is accused of killing 32-year-old Tina Stephanie Gutierrez, his ex-girlfriend, and her neighbor Martha Gomez Perdomo, 81. The two women were found dead Aug. 10 in two efficiency apartments at 982 E. 23 St., in Hialeah.

Police said Leyva and Gutierrez were having relationship problems and jealousy might have motivated him. Investigators believe that Perdomo may have been killed because she saw the murder or the crime scene.
