He’d been drinking when he killed one woman, injured two others, then fled, cops say

A man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run that left one woman dead and two injured, according to Hialeah police.

Leandro Leon Perez, 32, was arrested Friday on charges of driving under the influence, manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident, police say.

The crash occurred at roughly 1 a.m. Friday at the intersection of East First Avenue and Ninth Street in Hialeah.

A 73-year-old woman died at the scene while paramedics took two women to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The women’s identities have not been released to the public.

Jail records show Perez is being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on $20,000 bond.

The incident is still under investigation.
